SOPA/Killswitch Bill Sneaks Back Into Congress And Are Stronger Than Ever - Get Ready For Round 2!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) will lead his second effort of 2012 to push Internet-regulating legislation, this time in the form of a new cybersecurity bill.

The expected bill is the latest attempt by the Democrats to broadly expand the authority of executive branch agencies over the Internet.

The details of the bill still remain in secrecy but clues available to the public suggest that the bill might be stronger than President Barack Obama’s ‘Killswitch emergency cybersecurity’ proposal, which was released in May 2011.

The Killswitch bill allows the president to ‘declare a cyber emergency’ and shut down the internet.

Reid said that he would bring the bill — expected to come out of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, chaired by Connecticut independent Sen. Joe Lieberman — to the floor during the first Senate work period of 2012.

Just to be clear:

This bill is worse than SOPA, it will censor the internet and allow the President to shut it down much like what happened to Egypt during the Arab Spring

The Obama Administration not only supports the likes of the bill, but proposed it

The Government will have full control over the internet

The Government will have FULL CONTROL over the internet

Private-sectors, the state and the government will be granted immunity

The Government will have full control over the internet

Websites thought to be ‘infringing’ copyright laws will be seized by the government

Internet entrepreneurship will be endangered

YouTube will disappear (oh no!)

If you haven’t lost your faith in the Obama Administration, take a look at this. Obama plans to create a law that would mandate every American to have an ‘internet id’.

SOPA is not dead and neither is the Killswitch bill. As soon as I have any new information I will update this post.

     The Golden Rule — “The golden rule can and usually is applied to a paintings canvas proportions. As you read through the following text you’ll notice that most of the imagery presented utilizes similar dimensions and almost all of them fall into the golden rectangle. Today you can find the Golden Rectangle almost everywhere: from credit cards to phone cards to book covers, all are shaped with its proportions.

The imagery below represents the division of space when the “golden rule” is applied to a blank canvas. Basically it is the division of a line in two sections, where the ratio between the smallest section and the largest section is identical to the ratio between the largest section and the entire length of the line. In other words A/B = B/(A+B). The ratio is about 1/1.618. Honestly, I’m still not exactly sure what that all means? but, I do know that I used this grid layout a-lot when I first started painting and found it helpful. I still do.”

     Rule of Thirds— “From the golden rule came the “rule of thirds” which is virtually the same concept but slightly altered to fit photographic proportions. I find it a bit easier to follow since it’s very simple in its origin.Here we have a look at the rule of thirds in action.

Notice that the main focal point sits right almost directly over one of the “golden means.” Additionally, other objects are placed near the other converging lines (the bird, for example) but, not directly on them, since that would create competition for the focal point.”

     Implied Forms (Circular) — “The Circle is made up of a continuous ‘Curve’ and it’s circular movement keeps the eye in the picture frame. There are many circles in nature and man made objects. You can use the circle in a very obvious way in your composition or simply suggest it.”

    Implied Forms (Radii) — “Is a connection of ‘Lines’ meeting in the Center and an expansion of ‘Lines’ leaving the Center. The Radii is usually found in Nature Subjects. The best example of the man made Radii is the spokes of a wheel.

The eye has two ways to go when it comes upon the Radii. It can either be drawn in to the picture area or it can be led out of the picture area. You must be careful how you used the Radii and try to have the eye led into the picture.”

    Cross composition — “A showing of ‘Opposing Force’ that will give the picture a feeling of Cohesion and Relationship. The horizontal bar of the Cross will act as a “stopper’ while the vertical pole can act as a leading line. The windows in a large skyscraper will form crosses and will keep your interest in the building.”

   L Composition — “This makes an attractive ‘frame’. It can be used to accentuate important subjects. Many times it is a ‘frame’ within a ‘frame’.

A tree with an overhanging branch at the ‘right’ side of the picture area will form a ‘Rectangle’ and help frame the Main Subject in the picture. By doing this you will make the Center of Interest stand out and be noticed clearly.”

I don’t even know where to start with this.

I can’t even count on both my hands with how many times people seem to think I work for free. Whether it be for posters or web design or illustrations.

“I don’t know why I need to pay you. Can’t be that hard to do.”

Yes. It is. If it wasn’t, then you wouldn’t be asking me to help you. With every piece of work, whether it is digital or traditional or coding websites or doing 3D or photography, there is a lot of time, frustration and effort put into it. It might not come in the form of corporate payroll but it doesn’t mean it isn’t a job. And it doesn’t mean that the artists shouldn’t get paid for it. We don’t just magically shit out colours in seconds and go, “Oh, look! A masterpiece for free!” I didn’t go through 3 years of school to get my degree to have people tell me that my art has no merit for any kind of professional career.

I can tell you alone, the skull girl painting took about 15 hours. And Boba Fett is taking me well over 30 hours and counting.

When I used to take on website clients, I had one client say that $350 was too much for a website. Considering that most professional web designers charge about $2000 for a site (and that’s pretty standard), I was perhaps selling myself a little too short.

But what do I know, right? I’m just some 20-something female fresh out of college with no concept of how the real world works. Oh, when will I ever learn.

If anyone would care to donate a coloured comic page for the comic industry standard list I’m willing to accept one and will give credit c8 I would’ve made one if I had an example but I don’t -A-

But yes that’s off my chest.

Of course this is based off my own browsing over price lists and how I work unfortunately my commissioner homie went idle so I can’t confirm the most vs the least one can spend.

I’ve only found one artist thus far that charges nearly as close to industry standard. Even then it’s under the standard. As far a I’m concerned anyone under the standard shouldn’t have complaints about expensive art. Fandom average is hardly one you can live by.

Would you like to get paid $30 for 3-7 days worth of work?

Edit:No I’m not saying what you should/shouldn’t charge for your pieces. That’s up to you.
I’m talking to supposed commissioners that think it’s too expensive.
This is the hours of your life they’re spending.

If you’re gonna put a price tag on that make it worth that time and effort. For your own sanity.
I wanted to post this so those artists that have been discouraged by “too expensive for me” comments.

AND I didn’t feel right stealing from google images for example pictures which is why my own is up there. No I don’t expect $2000+ for it, not even $200, not unless I had to repaint in oils on a big BIG ASS CANVAS haha.

Trust me when I say a lot of artists are paranoid and scared of their own prices. This estimate as far as industry goes is to remind you your time IS worth something. Will we all get there? That’s up to us for how hard we’re willing to go.

I will say though I’ve gotten industry standard payment for LESS quality art years back. The artwork is an embarrassment now, but getting $300ish for it STUNNED me, I was so used to peanuts I didn’t feel I deserved it, made me realise that I’m at least capable though. I lucked out but I knew to keep trying.

That’s the point I want to make really :/ Don’t give up. If you love it.

Whatever you want to do with your life make sure you LOVE doing it and people don’t take advantage of your hard earned skills.

That’s enough rambling from me now I will go back under my rock 8I

Just tidbits and little rambles about my characters.. This isn’t all of them but I think these are the most well known I have among my shelf of characters?..

AoH: Yuel
I didn’t make her for the intention of AoH alone. The whole RP thing was very new to me at the time so I went and made an existing character as I thought it’d be easier. She didn’t end up being the person I initially planned her to be and ended up being social later on.. The original Yuel is a more calm and collected, quiet type of character who doesn’t really say much unless needed. Nevertheless she’s still my top favourite character among all and I’ve had her for many years. (And underwent a lot of redesigns lol) If anything, her being an ambiguous character was very much successful ahaha

AE: Infi Xalis
My first thought for Infi was along the lines of cool looking, manly, a little violent, and tsundere. Although as I played her more she began to become calm and relaxed, often very observing. The cool looking and manly traits were there, except the violence and being a tsundere XD I like drawing Infi a lot because she’s the type to wear suits, and formal wear that you’d see on men usually. I’ve always liked the ambiguous look on girls but still maintaining the feminine beauty they have. That’s pretty much how I want Infi to be like.

AR: Ye Ling
Ling was a confusing character for me. I honestly did not know how to go with playing her?? I have all her traits and personality set to stone (picky, short tempered, violent, tsundere) but I just can’t seem to grasp her character to act her well. I think it would be better for Ling to be a non RP character as I think I’d do a lot better with her personality by being.. drawn? I don’t know.. I think it’s because I try to be nice to other people while maintaining the meanness that is her personality. Despite having problems with her RP wise she’s one of my favourites in terms of design. And it’s not that I don’t like her, I like her a lot it’s just me who can’t do the justice of playing as her. XD

AP (also MM?): Ester Van Cross
It’s sad that I couldn’t get to play as her as much as I wanted to due to my comfort-ability towards the others in the group. I just didn’t know many people and I’m a really shy person..;; the few times I played her was really fun though. Ester is a playful type of character and normally pokes fun at everyone. Ester is also my favourite reverse trap. Because I like her so much I’m thinking about putting her into Morphos Metaphor as well… But I don’t know yet.

LoX: Kid
One of the characters that I also have no idea whatsoever to do with LOL;; I think it must be due to me drawing him in different timelines/ages and now I am just all I DO NOT KNOW WHAT DO I’m also very torn in keeping him or not keeping him. Honestly I can’t really say right now. RP wise he’s enjoyable because he’s always so full of energy so it’s really fun. I think it’s just my low willpower to keep up that’s stopping me if anything.. I’d like to stay for the beautiful ideas I get with his motherly relationship with Miya that could further shape his character.

DaF: Alexis
I have always considered weak guy characters to be a little adorable and I wanted to make one for myself as well. Thus, Alexis was made. I thought that the DaF setting was perfect for a character to be developed much like in an RPG style and I wanted to do that for him. I’ve had many grand plans for his character development so he can fight his own self esteem issues and inferiority complex but they ended up not happening due to time constraints LOL Alexis was made so that I can practice the whole character development thing.

HH: Kazuo
Tsundere guys are cute ok… Not only that but the types that can cook well, sew, and do household chores and read romantic novels and like cute stuffs it’s very cute ok… ( I think so at least?!) And that is basically Kazuo LOL a girly man on the inside but still pretty manly on the outside. He has issues and he doesn’t want to show his “real” interests to other people (although it ends up being too obvious to everyone he meets LMAO) Well anyways I wanted to make a character that is secretive (but cannot keep them to themselves too well) and a bad liar in general, but still has good intentions overall. Kazuo is actually my favourite male RP character. Easy to draw? Check. Easy to RP? Check. Too bad I didn’t make it in the renewal of HH to re-enrol him.. Oh well.

MA: Scarlett Silver
A few people have been wondering why she wears very little clothing and I just tell them I HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO CREATE A SEXY FEMALE CHARACTER OK with very little clothes on? Yes. I mean come on don’t most video games have it? Stop questioning me.. Well anyway that aside, I really love her design and I thought I needed female looking characters in my character stash instead of just reverse traps XD I did not get to RP her very much but I had fun even for just a bit! (a little difficult because everyone else was so PRO and I tried my best to keep mine at about the same quality orz)

Milizia: Jun Huang
I was never active in the group but making Jun was really fun! (Thanks to Min for dragging lol) I really like RPing him because he’s just.. so mad all the time and picking up fights when he doesn’t really mean to but still ends up sounding like he does? (does this make sense at all uhh) Overall I really like Jun and hoped that I got to play as him more. ;u;
